The company he keeps
I've lived in both worlds
On a pitch, being good is visible. It's ranked, recognised, and rewarded. In business, the best expert in the room can be completely invisible, and quietly lose work to people half as good but far better known.
The market doesn't reward the best expert. It rewards the best-known one.
I played for Leicester Tigers, England Sevens, England A and the Barbarians, then spent fifteen years working out how experts close that gap. I've written four business books, each one generating a six-figure income, none of it from royalties, all of it from becoming the person people already knew before they picked up the phone.
Now I help coaches, consultants, advisors, service providers and experts do the same: go from the best-kept secret in their field to the obvious choice.
